Hi from Indiana...

Post  Lisa on Mon Nov 15, 2010 12:01 am

Hi my name is Lisa. I know this isn't my first post but it's better late than never! I am age 31, married, with no kids yet, but hopefully soon. I am new to using the cup. I got my first cup, the Green Donna, which I have had a little trouble with, and I have a large Yuuki coming in the mail. I am interested in learning all I can about menstrual cups! Maybe I can help others learn too, from what I learn!

Welcome, Lisa! Happy to have you, can't wait to hear how it goes with the Yuuki Smile I have a pretty low cervix, so I have to stick with the shorter cups, I regularly use the small Lunette. I even had to trim the stem completely off to the base, because the low cervix makes me that short, lol. well at least during the heaviest days.

Feel free to browse the my "moderator's photo library" of the brands being compared, its pretty helpful:

How does someone with a short one wear a tampon? Just curious.

I think its a bit tricky... I never could put my tampons in very far, with me they just stayed right on the inside.

One thing I remember noticing, was that when I woudl remove one (because it felt like it was going to leak, I was always baffled, because it looked like it was only half absorbed! lol. Like one end was red and the other end was white... Now I know that half of it must have just gone to the side of my cervix, where it didn't absorb much. You can see how that would happen in the cervix video (I put this in the other thread too):

Another reason I opted to switch to cups-- they are more smooth and gentle touching the insides. Now that I know I have a low cervix, I just KNOW that dry, scratchy rayon fibers in the tampon probably weren't good being near my cervix. No wonder so many women are comming down with cervical cancer, dragging those fibers across the insides during removal, with pieces of it getting stuck in the skin and such... Stuff I jsut never thought abotu before. Of course plenty of women have used them just fine, but... Naturally I can't help but wonder?

Hi Lisa
Welcome to the forum Smile
A Green Donna! Very few people have those, why did you have problems with it (just out of curiosity) ?

According to a couple of people here who have a green donna, it is shaped like the Lunette, but much softer, especially the large. Some people are having trouble getting it to pop open Sad I've been hearing the same complaints in private messages on YouTube as well. But I believe Lisa figured out some good tips to get it to pop open in another thread, so I'm going to keep that in my bookmarks Smile
